1. How do I easily set homework for my students?

Most schools use their own LMS to set homework. To set an activity from Statistics Learning Centre, you just need to copy the link to the activity and paste in into your LMS. The students click the link and are taken directly to the activity. If they are not logged in to StatsLC they will be taken to the log in page, then directly to the activity.

The easiest way is to navigate to the activity you want (such as a Learning Quiz) then copy the url from the top of your browser. Paste it into your LMS as a link (details on this will depend on your school’s LMS).

3. How do I find out what my students have been doing?

If your school has students signed-up through the school (or on a free trial) you can keep track of their usage of the site through Student Activity Reports (indicated with a blue arrow below). These are available in the Teacher-only sections of NZ Statistics Level 1, Level 2 and Level 3 (they can be accessed through the link circled red in the image below).

5. How do I get my students to use the site more?

We have found that students are unlikely to use the site at home unless it is used as part of the classroom teaching. We suggest having the students work through some of the learning quizzes during class time, individually or in pairs. The teachers can get feedback on what the student are finding difficult, and it shows the students how to use the site to improve their understanding.  These learning quizzes are designed to reinforce student’s learning. Some schools challenge their students to keep trying the learning quizzes until they get 100%. This gives the students confidence that they understand the material.
